During the 23rd ITS World Congress, held in Melbourne, Australia, the ΑdaptIVe partners Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) and fka Forschungsgesellschaft Kraftfahrwesen mbH Aachen (FKA) participated in a number of activities to discuss latest advances in automation of road transport, and to promote European research efforts including the results of ΑdaptIVe.

To this end, a special session entitled "SIS 47 Automated Transport Systems: How far are we?” was organised by ICCS. The goal of the session was to gather important key players and relevant stakeholders from all over the world, assess the current developments in the field and identify probable path(s) for future deployment. During the Q&As the European efforts and results, especially of AdaptIVe and AutoNet2030, were discussed in detail with the audience, as examples of best practices and successful projects.

Adrian Zlocki, FKA, in turn, presented a paper entitled "Environmental Impact Assessment of Automated Driving" during the session "TP87 – V2X Enabled Automated Vehicle Applications". The paper focuses on the environmental impact assessment methodology applied for automated driving functions in AdaptIVe and the first results achieved.
