AdaptIVe partners University of Leeds and DLR presented results of the project research on human factors at the International Conference for Traffic and Transport Psychology – ICTTP2016, in Brisbane, Australia, from August 2nd to 5th, 2016.

At the ICTTP 2016 two papers by University of Leeds were presented:

“A Methodology for Inducing the Out of the Loop Phenomenon in Highly Automated Driving” by Tyron Louw and Natasha Merat focused on the effects of vehicle automation on drivers gaze dispersion.

The second presentation “Were they in the loop during automated driving? Links between visual attention and collisions” by Tyron Louw et al. addressed the connection between visual attention and crash potential in automated driving.

“Ambient light based interaction concept for an integrative driver assistance system” by Marc Dziennus et al. focused on an integrated interaction strategy to support the driver in different levels of automation by a consistent color-coded interaction design via a  360° LED stripe installed around the driver using his peripheral visual perception.

The Sixth ICTTP was organised by The Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety – Queensland (CARRS-Q) and Griffith’s University – Menzies Health Institute Queensland. Over 300 traffic psychologists, researchers, and safety experts participated the meeting to discuss and showcase the latest findings in international programs, policy, and development.
